[Japan] Against the backdrop of diversifying global payment needs and the growing trend toward cashless payments in Japan, Mastercard announced that it will support the full transition to cashless payments at the venue for the“Tokyo Marathon EXPO 2027” (the 20th edition), to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from March 4 to 6, 2027.
To help realize the Tokyo Marathon Foundation’s mission of “Changing the future through the joy of running,” the Tokyo Marathon EXPO 2027 will transition to a fully cashless payment system on-site, creating a more convenient and comfortable event environment for runners and visitors from both Japan and abroad.Mastercard aims to provide connections and experiences that go beyond payments, while further advancing the shift toward cashless transactions in Japan.
At the Tokyo Marathon EXPO 2027, cash will not be accepted for purchases of official merchandise or at exhibitor booths within the venue.
