[Japan] au Financial Services (Tokyo, Japan) announced that, effective August 19, 2026, the “au PAY Prepaid Card” is now compatible with “Google Pay.”As a result, Android users (running Android 9 or later) can now make contactless payments using their smartphones or wearable devices, as well as pay at Google Pay-compatible apps and online merchants.

The au PAY Prepaid Card was already compatible with Apple Pay on iOS devices, but with this new support for Google Pay, contactless payments are now available on an even wider range of smartphones and wearable devices.
The “au PAY Prepaid Card” is a prepaid card that allows users to make payments using their au PAY balance.
