The Tokyo Metropolitan Government began allowing users to exchange points for “PayPay Points (PayPay)” and “WAON POINT (Aeon Financial Services)” via the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Official App (Tokyo App) starting at 10:00 AM on July 27, 2026.The Tokyo App is the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s official app, designed to allow every resident to connect with the government using just a smartphone and to experience greater convenience.
The Tokyo App offers a service that awards “Tokyo Points” when users participate in socially meaningful activities; these points can be exchanged for points from private payment providers or admission tickets to metropolitan facilities, among other things.
In addition to the existing private payment service providers (au PAY, d Points, Mercari Points, Rakuten Pay, and V Points), users can now exchange Tokyo Points for points from PayPay and WAON POINT.
Users can check which activities earn Tokyo Points within the Tokyo App or on the Tokyo App website (Campaign Information List), and earn Tokyo Points by meeting the conditions for point awards. Accumulated Tokyo Points can be exchanged for points from private payment providers or admission tickets to Tokyo Metropolitan facilities and other venues.
