Olive has adopted a new theme for 2026: “Making Money Flow More Smoothly.” Ms. Yokoyama explains, “Financial services don’t necessarily become easier to use just by adding more convenient features. Sometimes, too many features can actually make them more complicated. We designed this summer’s initiative not simply to add financial features, but with the goal of enriching our customers’ lives.”This summer has once again been marked by extremely intense heat. As temperatures rise, people tend to buy more beverages, ice cream, and cooling products.

According to the “Survey on the Impact of Extreme Heat in Tokyo on Household Expenditures (2025)” released by Teikoku Databank, extreme heat is estimated to increase average monthly household expenditures in Tokyo by 3,512 yen per household. Furthermore, the summer vacation period brings significant expenses such as travel, visits home, and replacing home appliances.“I believe summer is a season when not only people but also their wallets are prone to ‘summer fatigue,’” says Yokoyama. “Rather than forcing yourself to cut back on necessary expenses, you can optimize your payment methods for the same purchases to earn points and benefits. That is the ‘summer wallet’ approach Olive proposes. The specific initiatives behind this are ‘Olive Day’ and ‘Summer Olive.’”

“Olive Day” is a campaign that distributes free coupons redeemable at 7-Eleven stores nationwide to Olive members who register during the campaign period and opt in to receive promotional emails.

The first installment features “Haagen-Dazs,” the second “Seven Premium Waffle Cone Rich Milk,” and the third a 130-yen discount coupon for “Seven Café.”

The registration period runs from August 3 to September 30. The deadlines for meeting the eligibility requirements and the coupon distribution dates are as follows.

In addition, starting July 23, 2026, “Summer Olive” is underway, featuring campaigns where users can receive gifts worth up to 77,400 yen for opening new accounts, signing up for credit card services, or conducting various transactions, as well as a campaign offering V-Point gifts worth up to 1 million yen.“This is the largest-scale campaign Olive has ever held,” said Mr. Yokoyama.

① Open a new account and deposit 100,000 yen or more to receive V Points worth 15,000 yen; ② Sign up for and use the Credit Mode to receive a reward worth up to 50% of your spending; ③ Sign up and use mobile contactless payment at least once to receive a reward worth up to 10,000 yen;④ Register for the campaign and have your salary deposited into Olive to receive up to 3,400 yen worth of V Points over one year; ⑤ Open an SBI Securities account and meet the conditions to receive 18,000 yen worth of V Points; ⑥ Link your account to Money Forward ME for the first time and use the “Transfer Money” feature to receive 1,000 yen worth of V Points.

In addition, the company is running a campaign where users can win V-Point gifts worth up to 1 million yen.

Olive’s 3.5-Year Journey: Partnerships
with PayPay and Others Collaboration with 7-Eleven Is Key to Expanding Regional User Base

Olive is a comprehensive mobile financial service that allows users to manage bank accounts, payments, points, securities, insurance, and more all in one app with a single card. It aims to clearly consolidate various financial services within a smartphone.Launched in March 2023, Olive has surpassed 8 million accounts. This figure is not the end goal; “Since so many customers have chosen us, we feel we must make the service even easier to understand and more convenient,” said Mr. Yokoyama. Olive is also expanding the scope of its services.

The blue and yellow “V Points” have been introduced, and the range of places where users can earn and redeem points is expanding. Additionally, the company is advancing collaborations with various partners, including initiatives with PayPay and a partnership with Seven & i Holdings. Rather than handling everything through a single bank, the goal is to create convenient services for users by connecting companies that excel in their respective fields.

One reason Olive is so convenient is that it allows users to view their bank accounts, cards, and securities points all in one app. Furthermore, by linking with Money Forward ME, users can also view assets held at financial institutions other than Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. In addition to account balances, users can manage points and other rewards.Furthermore, users can enjoy savings in various aspects of daily life. In addition to receiving point rewards at participating convenience stores, restaurants, railways, buses, and café chains, they can also use the “Olive LOUNGE”—an exclusive members-only space—for free. The company hopes users will experience these benefits not only when they open the app but also during their daily routines, such as commuting, having lunch, and shopping.

When we asked users what they liked about Olive, the top responses were: “The app is easy to use,” “I can manage my bank accounts, payment services, and points all in one place,” and “I can earn V Points.” Looking at user comments, people are using their accumulated points to buy cosmetics, replace electronics like headphones, or pay for purchases at convenience stores.Recently, partly due to rising prices, the bank reportedly feels that points have become more significant than ever before.

Although the service has often been linked to spring account campaigns in the past, the goal is for users to feel the benefits in their daily lives. While each bank runs its own campaigns, interest among users reportedly increases when campaigns are closely tied to their daily lives.

Seven & i Holdings has received a 100 billion yen investment from Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (Sumitomo Mitsui Card). While the company has always had a close relationship with 7-Eleven—including through point rewards—it aims to further align its services with customers’ daily lives moving forward. Although Olive is expanding beyond the Tokyo and Kansai metropolitan areas, 7-Eleven has a strong presence in regional areas as well, making this initiative crucial for increasing usage nationwide.

Regarding the funding for this campaign, the company stated that the amount depends on the number of participants and is therefore unknown at this time. Additionally, the company plans to consider the implementation of future “Olive Days” based on the results of this campaign.
