PayPay Insurance Services, a subsidiary of LINE Yahoo, announced that its “PayPay Hoken” service—which offers a total of 14 products, including “Heatstroke Condolence Payments” and “Safe Driving”—has surpassed 10 million cumulative policyholders approximately 4 years and 7 months after its launch.

“PayPay Hoken” features seamless integration with the cashless payment app “PayPay,” allowing users to prepare for various everyday risks tailored to their lifestyles. We believe that the shift toward a smartphone-centric lifestyle is one of the factors behind reaching 10 million policies. For example, in various situations—such as events with friends, travel, and commuting—the practice of using a smartphone to prepare “only what you need, when you need it,” primarily through services like “Anshin Drive,” has become widespread among younger people, particularly those in their 20s.
In a survey of “Anshin Drive” subscribers, the top reasons cited for joining were “I can pay with PayPay” (64.0%), “The premiums are low” (54.2%), and “I can apply via my smartphone without having to go to a convenience store” (47.3%).Furthermore, regarding the sign-up process, 64.3% of respondents reported that they “did not encounter any particular difficulties.”
Furthermore, repeat usage of seasonal products such as the “Heatstroke Condolence Payment” and “Influenza Condolence Payment” has also increased. Regarding enrollment trends for the “Heatstroke Condolence Payment,” approximately half of subscribers are repeat users; as awareness of the need to prepare for heatstroke grows, the service is reportedly becoming established as one that is used on an ongoing basis.
