Value Design, a subsidiary of PayCloud Holdings that operates cashless payment services, announced that “Omairi Pay”—a cashless payment system for temples and shrines jointly developed with the Kyoto Buddhist Association—now supports payment of admission fees.
As the first phase of this initiative, the service began operations on July 25, 2026, at the World Heritage Site Jishō-ji (Ginkaku-ji).As a result, visitors to Jishō-ji (Ginkaku-ji) can now use “Omairi Pay” to pay not only for religious souvenirs but also for admission fees, creating an environment where major payments within the temple grounds can be made cashlessly.
Jishō-ji Temple (Ginkaku-ji) had already been accepting “Omairi Pay” for payments of religious souvenirs and other items since June 19, 2026, but it has now expanded to support cashless payment of admission fees as well, which can be used at the ticket counter.
Furthermore, reducing the handling of cash is expected to streamline reception operations and alleviate congestion, providing a more comfortable visiting experience for both domestic users who regularly use cashless payments and foreign tourists visiting Japan.
