[U.S.] Checkout.com, a leading global payment platform, announced on October 20, 2026 (local time) at the global finance and FinTech event “Money20/20 USA” thatthat it would officially expand from its traditional focus on online (contactless) payments into Physical Store (face-to-face) payments. The company stated that this initiative marks a significant milestone in Checkout.com’s history and will open up new possibilities for its global Merchant business.Going forward, the company aims to bring the performance, resilience, and speed of innovation it has demonstrated on its single platform—which users have come to expect from contactless payments—to the in-person payment environment as well.

Manica Singh, Vice President of Product at Checkout.com, explained (Money20/20)

Building
a Foundation as a Leading Online Payment Provider Triggered by Requests from Merchants

Checkout.com is a global digital company that processes payments for numerous businesses, including Netflix, Uber, Spotify, ASOS, Vinted, Caravan, and Best Buy. For 15 years, the company has helped businesses accept online payments while delivering reliability and high performance.

While the company has provided solutions tailored to merchant needs, “We are now being asked to apply the same approach to our customers’ physical stores. I am very pleased to announce today that Checkout.com is expanding into the in-person payments sector. A few years ago, we never anticipated entering this space,” Monica candidly revealed.

She explained that it was the company’s merchants who drove this change. Since payment systems encompass not only online but also in-person transactions, “payment providers must adapt accordingly,” Monica noted.

With this move, Checkout.com is introducing its payment acquisition capabilities to in-person payments, enabling merchants to do business with the company both online and in Physical Stores.

In September, the company announced that Checkout.com had reached annual net revenue of $750 million, a 28% increase year-over-year. This gives the company the ability to invest in the in-person sector, and “we can now offer new services with the same confidence we had when we started the company,” Monica says with confidence.

In-Person Payments to
Be Managed via a Single Dashboard What are the target regions and initial partners for in-person payments?

Merchants can now process in-person payments with us starting today, managing everything—a single contract, a single acquirer, the same funds, and the same reconciliation—all from a single dashboard. The company’s strength lies in its software-driven, device-agnostic approach.
“This means that, thanks to the modularity of our platform, merchants can flexibly implement their own devices, hardware, and software solutions to suit their business needs,” she explains.

The company will first launch in-person payments in the United Kingdom and countries within the European Economic Area (EEA), followed by an expansion into the United States. Over the next year, it plans to expand its offerings to include additional payment schemes, markets, and features.

Mollie, which operates 350,000 businesses and locations across Europe, has become Checkout.com’s first partner for in-person payments. The two companies are collaborating to integrate online and in-person payment capabilities into Mollie’s acquiring offerings. This will allow them to maximize Mollie’s strengths. While maintaining its customer experience and hardware strategy, Mollie is leveraging Checkout.com’s infrastructure to gain new capabilities.
